Kühe mit wunderschönem Blumenschmuck auf der Zügleten der AlpKultur Tage Lenk

Traditional workshops, four-legged misses, flower- adorned cows, a hearty Alpine breakfast and bulky Hornussen players – this and much more is just waiting to be discovered during the AlpKultur® days in Lenk.

Traditions and customs are really practised by us in Simmental. Within 14 days, you will get a look into these real, typical and unspoilt traditions from Simmental.

The AlpKulur® Tage Lenk (AlpKultur® days in Lenk) hosts many workshops as a part of the event. Participants can make Simmental shear cuttings, weave on a large weaving loom, participate in judging the cows, make flowered adornments for cows, take an AlpKultur® cooking course using local products or try their hand at playing the traditional Swiss sport Hornussen and hit the puck called nouss.

The Alpine festival is marked by the alpine dairies presenting their cows adorned in flower wreaths, bells and cowbells called “Treicheln”. The worldwide famous Simmental cows are THE attraction. The four-legged animals are put in the spotlight every hour during little parades called “Zügleten”. The audience votes for Miss Lenk from a total of 25 contestants which are shown off in front of them. There is much folklore surrounding the Gadeplatz and the farmer's market where you can enjoy local delicacies. It is no wonder that the Alpine Festival is such a unique experience. In the evening, head to the rustic Älperbeiz “z’Tanz” pub to celebrate a night of yodelling and dancing. The Alpine breakfast after the Alpine Festival invites you to have a cosy Sunday brunch. Here, you can buy and taste home-made products from local farmers at three stands.

Around 250 sportsmen and women from all over Switzerland compete in the Hornussen tournament. Vibrantly coloured parades and the subsequent Hornussen party bring the AlpKultur® days in Lenk to a close with a crowning finale.
