Silver firs in Boltigen

Hike to the imposing silver firs

Thanks to tree sponsorships, ten of the oldest and mightiest silver firs in the entire Bernese Oberland have been protected in the forest «Boltigwald» and preserved against commercial exploitation. Forest President Heinz Burri discovered the time-honoured firs, estimated to be 250-300 years old, and secured their protection and preservation.

The aim of the tree trail is to make the population aware of extraordinary natural values. The preservation of ecologically valuable trees and the promotion of natural wood as a natural habitat and food source for animals and flora are the top priorities.
The Regenmoos – Niderhore mountain path takes you to the imposing silver fir trees in about 30 minutes.
