The hotel, gastronomy and tourism sector

A strong start to your career - what can you expect?

As a clerk in the tourist office of Lenk-Simmental Tourism, you will have the unique opportunity to get to know and help shape the varied and exciting areas of guest advice, accounting and marketing.

You will be quickly integrated into our small company, learn a lot and quickly become a valued and important team member. You will be supported and guided by the team and acquire the know-how you need for a successful entry into the professional world.

The specialization offered in the third year of the apprenticeship is: communication with stakeholders in German, the national language. For outstanding students, we offer the opportunity to combine basic commercial training with a vocational baccalaureate.

What does everyday teaching look like?

The commercial apprenticeship usually lasts three years. During this time, you will attend vocational school one or two days a week. The remaining days you work in the company. You will sometimes work at weekends, but you will have two days off during the week. In addition to your apprenticeship, you will also attend inter-company courses in the hotel, catering and tourism sector. The training is clearly structured so that you can work in all areas of the business.

In the guest advisory service, you will learn how to advise guests competently about our vacation region at the counter, on the phone or by e-mail. This can be in German, French or English. At the counter, you will be introduced to cash register handling and sell ski tickets, vouchers and much more. In accounting, you will learn how to process payments and issue invoices. In marketing, you will take on your own projects such as writing the event program (S)Immer Aktuell. You will manage certain summer and winter events on your own and use a graphic design program to design flyers, write texts for the website and lend a hand on the day of the event. You will actively help with the operation of the website www.lenk-simmental.ch and social media such as Instagram.

You will gain a broad and comprehensive insight and get to know all facets of a tourism office in practice.
