Dezemberkonzerte Cantate Chor Zweisimmen

The Cantate Choir of Zweisimmen is very pleased to perform this wonderful work together with the soloists and the orchestra of the Zweisimmen concerts.

Georg Friedrich Händel is one of the outstanding and most significant figures in music history. His artistic ambition, creative power and sensitivity, his open-mindedness, education, and tolerance made him a true European even during his lifetime.
The audience loved Händel's operas and oratorios. His oratorio "Messiah," which he wrote, for example, in just 23 days, is considered one of the most important works of this genre and made Händel world-famous. The "Messiah" premiered over a quarter millennium ago, namely in 1742 in Dublin. The most renowned critics praised the oratorio right after the performance as the "most perfect work of music."
