The Marmot Expedition
Accompanied by a ranger, participants will visit and observe marmot families near the mountain station Leiterli. Besides watching the animals, the ranger will introduce participants to the life of marmots: hibernation, food, enemies, communication, and anatomy are topics that will be playfully explored with visual aids and comparisons.
The highlight is not to be missed: binoculars out, focus, and observe the marmot family from a distance. A true nature adventure for the whole family!
Duration and Locations:
- Meeting point: 09:00 at the mountain station Leiterli
- Duration of the program: approx. 2.5 hours
- End of the expedition: 11:30 at the mountain station Leiterli
The range of the expedition is within the vicinity of the mountain station Leiterli, the Hasler Hochmoor, and the Marmot Trail Betelberg.
Requirements and Equipment:
- Children from preschool age who are capable of walking. All children must be accompanied by at least one adult.
- The excursion will be conducted in dialect or German.
- Dogs must stay at home – they pose a danger and stress factor for marmots.
- Good footwear, sun protection, weather-appropriate clothing, some snacks, and a filled water bottle are part of the equipment.
- Insurance coverage for participation in the program is the responsibility of the participants.
Participant Numbers:
- Minimum 8 persons
- Maximum 20 persons
