In 2002, the Alpine countries agreed to create a cross-border long-distance hiking trail through the Alps, the Via Alpina from Trieste to Monaco. This resulted in a network of paths. These stages from Liechtenstein to Montreux belong to the "Green Path".
It crosses 14 of the most beautiful Alpine passes. Across 6 cantons of Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein, we encounter diverse culture, geology, and topography. Wide roads end in airy ridge trails. One of the most versatile floras and faunas worldwide lines the path. Quiet relaxation phases alternate with thriving tourist resorts. The state-of-the-art alpine farm with pipelines and its showroom is also on the route, as is the alpine hut where pigs, goats, and cows watch the herdsman at work. Faults, overthrusts, subsidences, and rockfalls testify to interestingly structured geology. Breathtaking panoramas alternate with small beauties along the path, and the gastronomy offers a wide variety of delicacies.
Stage Lenk - Gstaad
Once again, an ascent begins in an area used for sports activities. Shortly after the start, we cross a cable car at the Wallegg ridge, whose first section leads along the ridge upwards. Our path leads slightly north of the cable car along the Wallbach upwards.
A little above the "Undere Lochberg" we cross a flat, swampy moor area, which we only leave again when climbing to the "Obere Lochberg". Up to the Trüttlisberg Pass, we have firm ground underfoot again.
Now follows the descent through the elongated Turbach valley and through the village of Turbach into the fashionable Gstaad. By the way, it is not a spelling mistake that the stream through the Turbach valley bears the confusing name "Turbachbach".
