Those who take the cable car from Erlenbach to the 2190 m high Stockhorn visit a first-class viewpoint: the view from the distinctive summit ranges from the Jura over Lake Thun and the pre-Alps to the high Alpine range. But even those who only make half the journey and go up to the mid-station Chrindi immerse themselves in a different world. While busy activity prevails below in the Simmental and road traffic flows steadily, peaceful quiet and tranquility greet you up here. The sight of the Hinterstockensee, which spreads out wonderfully shimmering green below the mid-station, also adds to the enjoyment. A circular path leads around the lake. From the rock path carved into the Mieschfluh, you reach the mountain hiking trail leading up to Vorderstocke. Over juicy green alpine pastures, loosely interspersed with mighty fir trees, you descend to the Oberstockensee. There is also a circular path around this lake; on it you reach, practically always along the water, the forest north of the lake, which you now pass by during the ascent to the Oberstocke alp. There, the friendly hospitality tempts for a shorter or longer stay. The same family spends the approximately three and a half months of alpine season here for eight generations. Through a karstified, flower-rich forest hollow with rare mountain flowers, you descend to Hinterstocke. At the Hinterstockensee, there are resting benches and a larger picnic area. Both the Hinterstocken and the Oberstockensee are rich in rainbow trout and are therefore a popular destination for hobby anglers. From the lake, you climb back to the mid-station Chrindi of the Stockhorn cable car.
