From the Matten station in the Simmental, the route goes through shaded forest along the Färmelbach over floodplain pastures to Stalde. Here, it switches to the sunny slope. Partially without a path, the route climbs along a pasture fence into the forest. At the first junction, keep right towards Höuweggli. Continue steeply upwards to Allmi. There, the high trail above the Färmeltal is reached. Follow it towards Undere Bluttlig, then steeply upwards again to Grimmifurggi. The view opens onto the rear Diemtigtal. Equally impressive is the view of Spillgerte and back to Färmeltal.
The further ascent to Rauflihorn follows the ridge along a wide grass-covered slope. The summit presents a flat crest. It offers a majestic panoramic view over the bizarre peaks of Gsür to the southeast and Spillgerte to the west. To the north stretches the Diemtigtal with the distinctive Wiriehorn. Above Männliflue to the east, the ice giants of the Lütschinentäler appear, most notably Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau.
The descent begins very steeply and is at times quite exposed along the sloping ridge but poses no problems for sure-footed hikers. In places, the route runs without a path over mountain pastures. From Raufli, the trail goes less steeply over alpine paths to Fildrich, where it leads into the paved road to Grimmialp.
