Take the gondola from Les Barzettes to Les Violettes, then the Funitel to Plaine Morte. The tour starts at the Violettes-Plaine Morte Funitel terminal. Contemplate this magical, lunar landscape and watch the occasional sled dog on a hike with guests, or cross-country skiers practicing their sport by looping around the glacier. The climb up to the Violettes-Plaine Morte funitel is a little more demanding.

  • Approach

    To reach Crans-Montana by car, take the "Sierre ouest" exit off the A9 freeway (Autoroute du Rhône). At the freeway exit, turn left and follow the signs for "Sierre". At the roundabout, turn right. Continue for 500 meters, then at the entrance to Sierre, turn left in the direction of "Crans-Montana". The journey takes approximately 20 minutes. Once in Crans-Montana, follow the signs to the Violettes lift parking lot.

    Then take the cable car to the top of Les Violettes and change to the funitel to Plaine Morte.

  • Crans-Montana can be reached from Sierre station by SMC bus and from Sion station by Postbus.

    The free SMC shuttle buses serve the whole of Crans-Montana. The nearest stop to the start of the hike is télé Violettes.

    Then take the cable car to the top of Les Violettes and change to the funitel to Plaine Morte.
