68th Menuhin Festival Gstaad & Academy
18.07.2025 - 06.09.2025
69th Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy I July 18 – September 6, 2025| Change - Humility - Transformation - Migration
What began in 1957 with two concerts by the legendary violinist Yehudi Menuhin in the church of Saanen has today become one of the largest classical music festivals in Switzerland: the Gstaad Menuhin Festival. Artistic Director Christoph Müller has successfully led the festival into the 21st century with an attractive combination of tradition and innovation, stars and young talents, as well as chamber music and symphonic concerts. The over 60 concerts take place in the atmospheric and acoustically outstanding churches of the Saanenland, the Pays-d’Enhaut, and the Obersimmental, as well as in the elegant festival tent in Gstaad. A high-caliber offering of masterclasses rounds off the picture.
With the 2025 festival, we address these phenomena of migration on four levels: “Origin”: Music from the homeland; “Escape to Exile”: Music of flight and from exile; “Inner Emigration”: Music by composers from suppressed political systems or those who retreat to their own “inner” world, thus finding the path to self-liberation; “Nostalgia”: Longing for the voluntarily or involuntarily left homeland, also expressing the feeling of “homesickness.”
The pre-sale for the concerts in the festival tent in Gstaad begins on December 20, 2024. Tickets can be booked online and at the official ticket sales outlets from this date.
