With its relatively gentle slopes (mostly below 30°), this snowshoe tour is feasible in almost all snow conditions. If there is enough snow, you start directly in Matten. Via the old Färmelstrasse you reach the turn-off to the right to Färmelbode after about 20 minutes. It is usually possible to put on snowshoes here at the latest. The ascent now follows the edge of the forest up to the tree line at approx. 1800 m above sea level. Here in the open terrain, the view of the surrounding mountains becomes increasingly beautiful. During the well-earned break at the top of the Albristhubel, you can enjoy the panoramic view of the Spillgerten, the Albristhore, the Wistätthore and the Wildstrubel massif to the full.

The descent is along the same route back to Matten.

  • Approach

From Lenk or Zweisimmen via the main road to Matten.

  • By train from Lenk or Zweisimmen to Matten SBB timetable

Alternatively, depending on the snow situation, you can take a 4x4 cab to a higher starting point.

  • On Färmelstrasse by the Mühleweidli fireplace

  • Matten - Färmelbode - Eggen - Albristhubel

  • For snowshoe tours, the appropriate equipment and the necessary specialist knowledge (avalanche awareness, alpine skills) are mandatory! If you have no experience in assessing the avalanche situation in open terrain, it is better to go on a snowshoe tour with a trained snow sports instructor or mountain guide.

  • As with any snowshoe tour, an avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel are part of the equipment.
