Along the Alpine Flower Trail at Betelberg, over 300 different species of alpine flowers, grasses, and lichens grow! Thanks to around 90 signs, hikers and interested parties can be enchanted by the alpine flower world on the 1.6 km long circular trail. The hike starts at the Leiterli mountain station. Now explore the botanical treasures or register for an excursion with Margrit Dubi.

We all know alpine roses, arnica, and gentian, but the meadows along the original Alpine Flower Trail are inhabited by many other species – surrounded by a unique panorama between Wildstrubel and Hasler Hochmoor. The wide trail from the mountain station towards Steinstoss/Gryden is also signposted up to the junction with the original Alpine Flower Trail. Especially suitable for leisurely walkers and those with strollers.

  • Alpine roses in abundance, gentian, or perhaps even an edelweiss. The area around Leiterli is one of the greenest and most colorful alpine meadows in Switzerland. At this altitude, alpine flowers grow thanks to intense sunlight like nowhere else. A biodiversity that is now rarely found. Over 300 different species of flowers, grasses, and lichens can be discovered here. We highlight about 90 species with specially made signs showing pictures and names of the plants. Most plants usually bloom here in July and August.

    Orchid hotspot:
Long-spurred lady's slipper, globe orchid, black man orchid, stately orchis, fox's spotted finger orchid, and green hollow tongue orchid. All in one place.

    A sea of alpine roses:
Not just individual bushes – entire slopes appear as a colorful sea of blossoms in midsummer.

    Spring awakening:
After the snow melts, spring crocuses, spring gentians, and mountain carnation root begin spectacularly. The silicate bell gentians follow with many others in early summer.

The circular hike can be easily combined with other routes, for example, the impressive Gryden high-altitude circular path or the AlpRundweg Leiterli.
