The start of the route is in Matten, from where the first altitude meters are covered on the hiking trail or alternatively on the forest road. From the Siteweiden, the route leads through open terrain via Gibel over a long mountain ridge to Schatthore. The mountain panorama from Schatthore is one of the most beautiful in the Upper Simmental. The Albristhore seems within reach. Here, the impressive Simmental valley closure with the Wildstrubel massif is particularly striking. After a well-deserved break, return down the same route to Matten.

  • Approach

By car on the main road to Matten in the Simmental.

  • By train to Matten, St. Stephan. SBB timetable.

Alternatively, depending on snow conditions, a 4x4 taxi can be taken to a higher starting point.
