No climbing is required to reach the Leiterli: the Lenk–Betelberg gondola lift will ferry you quickly and comfortably up onto the Betelberg, the starting point for this circular hike. The hiking trail sets off from the eastern side of the top station building. From here you will keep heading uphill in a southerly direction; after 10 minutes you will reach the highest point of the Betelberg ski area, the Leiterli.

From the Leiterli, a gentle descent in a south-westerly direction along the slope will take you to Tschätte. On the nearby Stoss, the winter hiking trail to Stoss branches off to the left, whilst the Leiterli circular trail continues to the right.

It now descends quite steeply towards the Läger, taking a slight bend beneath the mountain lodge and then runs alongside the forest without deviating significantly in altitude.
