The Wildhornhütte is located at 2303 m above sea level in the Gelten-Iffigen Nature Reserve, at the foot of the Wildhorn (3248 m). Here, along with a diverse Alpine flora, you can often find fossils. Surrounded by prominent cliffs and mountain meadows, a fresh breeze often blows down from the nearby glacier. What could be more beautiful than watching the sunrise while gazing over to the Eiger? The Wildhornhütte belongs to the SAC Section Moléson, was gently renovated in 2014, and now has 96 sleeping places divided into 9 rooms. In summer, the hut is a popular destination for climbers, hikers, groups, school classes, and families. For children, it is a special experience to stay with us. During our winter opening period, ski tourers and snowshoers love to visit us, often finding untouched white slopes. The easiest and shortest access to the Wildhornhütte is from Iffigenalp. However, it is also easily reachable via other paths: from Lenk, for example, via the Leiterli or from Lauenensee over the Tungel Pass. To the south, one ascends over the Lac de Tseuxier and the prehistoric pass crossing Schnidejoch. As a multi-day tour, the Wildhornhütte is the starting point for the "Berner Haute-Route Diablerets-Kandersteg-Grimsel." The transition to the neighboring Gelten or Wildstrubelhütte is also popular. Finally arrived at the Wildhornhütte, the hut warden and their team look forward to welcoming you! Regional dishes, coffee Wildhorn, freshly tapped beer, and a 3-course dinner in the evening provide new energy for the next adventurous mountain day.
