Dinosaurier-Eier-Ausstellung
03.04.2026 - 19.04.2026
An April Fool's joke becomes a reality: What began on April 1 as a supposed find of a dinosaur egg during construction work at Betelberg is now turning into a spectacular Easter highlight in Lenk.
From Good Friday to April 19, 2026, Lenk Simmental Tourism presents an extraordinary exhibition at the Kulturhaus Lenk featuring original dinosaur eggs and fossil nests: a small sensation in the Bernese Oberland.
Originals from a long-gone world
The exhibition focuses on several genuine exhibits, including six original dinosaur eggs and nests. These come from southern France, one of the most significant find regions in the world.
The first dinosaur eggs were discovered there as early as the 19th century. Particularly impressive: Some eggs are still preserved in their original nest structure, offering a rare glimpse into the life of dinosaurs around 70 million years ago.
The exhibition includes:
- Eggs from giant herbivores (sauropods)
- Different shapes and structures of dinosaur eggs
- Fossil nests that reveal nesting behavior
These findings provide fascinating answers to questions such as:
How did dinosaurs lay their eggs? Was there parental care? And what did the world look like back then?
Unique insights into prehistoric times
Visitors embark on a journey to a time when Europe was still made up of islands, the climate was tropically warm, and dinosaurs laid their eggs on riverbanks.
The exhibition conveys knowledge in an understandable and exciting way, ideal for families, children, and anyone interested in natural history and prehistory.
