The traditional jazz workshop is aimed at musicians for trumpet, clarinet, saxophone, trombone, violin, piano, banjo, guitar, double bass, tuba, drums and vocals.
The Traditional Jazz Workshop Lenk offers practice-oriented intensive courses and is led by experienced and internationally active top musicians. The core of the course consists of individual instrumental lessons and band training, plus a range of optional subjects such as harmony, ear training, rhythm, improvisation for instrumental musicians, jazz singing for band musicians, rhythm section training, standards/leadsheet playing, Latin percussion and a band tutorial that takes place separately from the weekly course. The weekly course deals with the styles of traditional jazz (New Orleans, Dixieland, Swing) as well as mainstream and bossa nova. It is aimed at individual participants aged 15 and over with good instrumental and theoretical knowledge (rule of thumb: at least 4 years of lessons). There is no entrance examination. General requirements for participation: - aged 15 and over - not beginners on the instrument (at least 4 years of lessons) - basic knowledge of reading music and harmony desired - with or without band experience The courses are aimed at amateurs, advanced students, classical music teachers, experienced jazz players and musicians from brass bands.
