"The daily life of times long past seems to emerge, and one marvels at how the place has changed and what an enormous development has taken place since then in the Simmental valley. The project for the extensive picture book with over 600 images in the form of black-and-white photographs from the period of around 1860 to the beginning of the 21st century, as well as engravings and drawings from around 1850 or earlier, is intended to remain a sustainable time document for the population and guests of Lenk. A large part of the images comes from the author's archive, but additional images have also been provided by third parties. Many photographs are from the teacher and photographer Alfred Bigler (*1877), who came to Lenk around 1897 as a young teacher and lived and worked there until his death in 1960."
