SRF ‘Donnschtig-Jass’ on 30 July 2026 visits the Simmental valley
The Simmental municipalities of Lenk and St. Stephan are delighted to be hosting the popular SRF live show ‘Donnschtig-Jass’ on Thursday, 30 July 2026. The show is being produced in cooperation with SRF and will introduce the traditional Jass format and the region to a wide audience throughout Switzerland. The exact venue within the destination will be determined in advance by a Jass qualifying tournament one week beforehand. Two qualifying tournaments are planned, in which local Jass players can qualify for the big live appearance. This means that the focus is not only on the fun of playing, but also on the active involvement of the local population.
The organising committee kick-off meeting for the event took place at the beginning of February, with René Müller, mayor of Lenk, as committee president. He emphasises the importance of the event for the region: "Hosting the “Donnschtig-Jass” is a great opportunity for us to show off our destination at its best, together with St. Stephan. The format combines Swiss tradition, entertainment and community and brings nationwide exposure, which is invaluable for our region," says René Müller happily. An integral part of the programme is a portrait of the town, which focuses on the scenic, cultural and tourist attractions of Lenk-Simmental. The live broadcast is complemented by well-known faces from Swiss show business, who provide additional entertainment and national attention. Donnschtig-Jass can only be realised thanks to the great voluntary commitment and numerous volunteers from our communities.
Further information on the programme, venue and tournaments will be communicated at a later date.
