Along the Alpine Flower Trail at Betelberg, over 300 different species of alpine flowers, grasses, and lichens grow! Thanks to around 90 signs, hiking enthusiasts and interested parties can be enchanted by the alpine flowering world on the 1.6 km long circular trail. The hike begins at the Leiterli mountain station. Now explore the botanical treasures or register for an excursion with Margrit Dubi.

Alpine roses, arnica, and gentian are all well known, but the meadows along the original Alpine Flower Trail are inhabited by many other species – surrounded by a unique panorama between Wildstrubel and Hasler Hochmoor. The wide hiking path from the mountain station in the direction of Steinstoss/Gryden is also signposted up to the junction with the original Alpine Flower Trail. Especially suitable for leisurely walkers and people with strollers.

  • Approach

    By car via Zweisimmen to the Lenk. At the roundabout in the town center, drive towards the valley station of the Betelberg gondola.

  • By train via Zweisimmen to the Lenk. On foot or by local bus to the valley station of the Betelberg gondola. By the Betelberg gondola from the Lenk to the Leiterli mountain station. The mountain station is the start & end point of the circular trail.

  • Adequate free parking spaces are available at the valley station of the gondola.

  • The start of the Alpine Flower Trail at the mountain station is unmistakable. Just follow the flower signs.

  • This is a biodiversity that unfortunately no longer occurs very often. Many of the plants at Leiterli are under nature protection. Look instead of uprooting – the plants can be observed intensely with pleasure.

    Digital stroll with Flower Walks

    Download the "Flower Walks" app on your mobile phone and embark on the botanical stroll at Betelberg. The app leads GPS-supported directly to various plants and reveals exciting information. As a special highlight, the stroll also runs via the Gryden Höhenrundweg and back. To the stroll

  • Alpine roses in abundance, gentian, or perhaps even an edelweiss. The area around Leiterli is one of the greenest and most colorful alpine regions in Switzerland. At this altitude, alpine flowers grow like nowhere else due to intense sunlight. A biodiversity that no longer occurs often. Over 300 different species of flowers, grasses, and lichens can be discovered. We indicate about 90 species for you with specially made signs showing pictures and the names of the plants. Most plants usually bloom here in July and August.

    Orchid hotspot:
    Long-spurred handwurz, globe orchid, black bog orchid, stately orchis, fox’s spotted fingerwort, and green hollow tongue. All in one place.

    A sea of alpine roses:
    Not just individual bushes – entire slopes appear as a colorful sea of blossoms in midsummer.

    Spring awakening:
    After the snow melts, it starts spectacularly with spring crocus, spring gentians, and mountain carnation root. The silicate bell gentians follow with many others in early summer.

    The circular hike can be well combined with other routes, for example the impressive Gryden Höhenrundweg or the AlpRundweg Leiterli.
