The Jaun Pass is located on the canton border Bern-Freiburg at 1,508 m above sea level and is the starting point of the route. The hike leads through lush blooming alpine meadows with peacefully grazing Simmental cows to the Hundsrügg. From this ridge, the view of the Gastlosen and the Obersimmental peaks is phenomenal. The panorama includes 423 mountain peaks. A highlight on the way to Sparenmoos are the raised bogs on the Nüjeberg.
