The hike from Laubbärgli via Albristhorn into Fermeltal to Matten (St. Stephan) railroad station includes a section of the Alpine Route between Tierberg and Furggeli. But first the trail leads gently through the forest to Alp Seewle, where you can buy good alpine cheese. The trail then climbs further up through alpine meadows to the ridge and we leave the tree line behind us. On the ridge it becomes stony and this section of the trail runs along the partly narrow and exposed ridge. The high point, at 2,762 m above sea level, is the panoramic Albristhorn with its summit cross. From the Furggeli, the trail descends through the long, wildly romantic and remote Fermeltal valley to the railroad station in the village of Matten.
