This summit is relatively easy to reach from Engstligenalp. From the starting point of the route at the aerial cableway summit station Engstligenalp, the route first crosses the entire high plateau before the actual ascent begins. The climb to Ammertenspitz starts gently uphill and becomes increasingly steeper before the ridge. From the ridge to the summit is not far. The view to Wildstrubel and Gletscherhorn is simply amazing. At the top, the 360° panorama is almost unsurpassable, as now the view north to Simmental and Engstligtal is also free. The descent towards Ammertental and further into the Simmenfälle is very rewarding under good snow conditions.

Classification according to SAC difficulty scale for ski routes: from Engstligenalp and back: WS, descent through Ammertental to Lenk: ZS+

  • Approach

Through the Simmental to Lenk and to the valley station Stand-Xpress.

  • From Lenk over the Metsch ski area to Chuenisbärgli, then by bus down below Birg. With the aerial cableway to Engstligenalp.

Return by bus from the Simmenfälle to the Stand-Xpress.

  • At the valley station Stand-Xpress Lenk.

  • Triescht - Schönbühl - Ammertepass

  • For ski routes, the proper equipment and necessary expertise (avalanche knowledge, alpine skills) are mandatory! Those without experience in assessing the avalanche situation in open terrain should better go on a ski route with a trained mountain guide.

  • As with every ski route, an avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel, and crampons are part of the equipment.

  • Under good conditions, you can ski from the ski lift towards Schönbühl, thus simplifying the route a bit.
