With its wide mountain meadows, spraying waterfalls, breathtaking mountain panorama, and long "Älplertradition," the Engstligenalp was included in 1996 in the Federal Inventory of Landscapes and Natural Monuments of National Importance.

The high plateau located at 2000 m above sea level is accessible by cable car and serves as the starting point for numerous hiking and mountain tours. The flat, obstacle-free circular route begins directly next to the mountain station. It leads over the flat high plateau, past babbling mountain streams, grazing cows, and cozy alpine huts back to the starting point.
