Alpine cheese dairy Alp Dürrenwald

Peek into the Chessi (basin) at the alpine cheese production and smell the delicious aroma of the cheese kitchen. Enjoy a snack of "bread and cheese" and marvel at the many wheels of cheese in the cheese cellar. You can follow the work stages right up to the finished wheel of cheese. After a morning on the alp, you will certainly learn to appreciate cheese in a new way.

Talk to the Moor family and find out everything you want to know about cheese-making and life on the alp. The fresh alpine milk in the Simmental is mostly processed into Berner Alpkäse AOP and Berner Hobelkäse AOP. The many different herbs and grasses of the alpine pastures and the mountain water produce the healthy and rich alpine milk. Alpine cheese is only made on the alp in summer. The alpine milk is cheesed on the spot on the alp.

Groups/school classes are welcome on the other days of the week. Only with advance booking at least one week in advance.

You can join in the cheese-making on many of the Simmental's alps. The map with marked alps and contact details will give you an overview. All it takes is a phone call and you are welcome.
