At the age of 16, Gottlieb Schläppi entered the teacher training college in Hofwil and regularly wrote to his mother and sister about his experiences and what moved him. The approximately 250 letters from the years 1921 to 1952 not only document the life of a mountain farming family in the Simmental but also provide unusual insights into Swiss everyday life during the first half of the 20th century.
