The start of the route is in the village of Lenk, from where the ascent towards Leiterli first goes on asphalt and later on a gravel road through mostly wooded areas up to Balemad. There the Wallbach is crossed and now follows the steep final stretch to Haslerberg and further to Leiterli. After a well-deserved break at the Berghaus Leiterli, comes the best part of every bike route, the descent. On a wide farm road, it goes past the storage lake to Steinstoss, where the first piece of singletrail into Aebi awaits. Continuing on wide roads until the actual highlight is reached. The Summerwald Trail is initially a flowy trail that leads through a remote beautiful forest area. Further down, roots and curves provide the necessary variety and technical challenge. The last part to the Chimpach bridge is a welcome challenge for the technically skilled. Alternatively, this section can be bypassed on the easier alpine road. The driving road provides a breather for the next trail, which flows alongside the Iffigbach. The last section can be taken back on the asphalt road to Lenk, or via a short but steep climb over Seefluh and down the trail to the Betelberg valley station.
The ascent can also be done with the Betelberg gondola.
