After crossing the plateau, the ascent to the breakfast area is approx. 900 m over a regular north/northeast slope. Depending on the snow conditions, the transition to the breakfast area is a technical challenge. Large amounts of snow and wind often cause large drifts. The Frühstücksplatz is the perfect place for a breakfast break, as the name suggests, before heading steeply over the Ammerten Glacier towards the summit. The further you climb, the flatter the glacier becomes. An impressive view of the Valais and Bernese Oberland peaks awaits at the summit. The Wildstrubel itself stretches from west to east and consists of three peaks of almost equal height: the actual Wildstrubel (3244 m above sea level), also known as the "Lenkerstrubel", the middle peak (3243.5 m above sea level) and the Grossstrubel (3243 m above sea level), the destination of this tour.

The descent through the Ammertal valley includes some fairly challenging, beautiful slopes. In good snow conditions, this descent is one of the best in the region. Passing the Ammerten refuge, the Rezliberg is reached all too quickly. The last part of the tour leads partly along the road and partly across meadows until you reach your destination, the Simmenfälle restaurant.

  • The appropriate equipment and the necessary specialist knowledge (avalanche awareness, alpine skills) are mandatory for ski tours! If you have no experience in assessing the avalanche situation in open terrain, it is better to go on a ski tour with a trained mountain guide.

  • As with any ski tour, you need an avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel and crampons.

  • In good conditions, you can traverse from the mountain station of the Dossen ski lift in the direction of the breakfast area. This is a few meters less altitude.
