The tour starts on the Jaun Pass and follows the little road to Bädermoos, the highest point of the route. Where cows graze in summer, there is marvellous silence in winter. The route leads downhill through snow-covered fields and forests to Eschihalten on the Jaunpass road. From there, you can take the TPF bus no. 206 back to the Jaun Pass or to Boltigen railway station.

The tour can of course also be walked in the opposite direction.

  • Approach

Approach to Boltigen via Thun - Wimmis. In Boltigen/Reidenbach, follow the turn-off to the Jaun Pass.

Approach from Bulle via Charmey - Jaun to the Jaun Pass.

  • By train to Boltigen, followed by a bus connection to the Jaun Pass. Find out about the timetable from the SBB.

  • There is a public car park on the Jaunpass for which a charge is made.

  • Route description: Jaunpass (1504 m) - Zügwegen - Bädermoos - Chalbismoss - Eschihalten (1207 m). The tour can of course also be done in the opposite direction.

The route leads over snow-covered, unprepared paths which are only passable with snowshoes. This snowshoe tour is signposted and can be undertaken without prior knowledge.

  • For snowshoe tours, the appropriate equipment and the necessary expertise (avalanche awareness, alpine skills) are mandatory! If you have no experience in assessing the avalanche situation in open terrain, it is better to go on a snowshoe tour with a trained mountain guide.

  • Snowshoes, warm clothes and winter shoes.

  • To shorten the waiting time for the bus, we recommend stopping off at the Eschihalten restaurant to warm up.
