The tour starts either at Iffigenalp, which can only be reached by cab in winter, or at Hubelmatte. Starting from Hubelmatte, you quickly leave the Iffigenalp road and ascend across fields to Fallweid. Follow the Iffigenalp road for a short stretch through the forest to Ritzdole. Continue through fields and forest towards Langermatte. The last 150 m to Langermatte are climbed on open terrain. From Langermatte to Oberlaubhore it is another 150 m, with the last steep meters mostly on foot. At the summit, there is a wonderful view over the "Lengi Egge" (Lenk) and the Obersimmental. Incidentally, Lenk got its name from this long hill (lengi Egge, Lengg, Lenk). To the south, the panorama is not as open as to the north, but the Laufbodehore with its steep flanks and the Wildstrubel are close enough to touch.

The descent usually starts a few meters below the summit. Up to Langermatte, there are a few turns to warm up before the beautiful powder slopes to Chäli await. These eastern slopes are often very shady, which often promises good snow conditions. The second part of the descent leads partly along the snow-covered road and partly through meadows to the Simmenfälle restaurant.

Classification according to the SAC difficulty scale for ski tours: WS-

  • Approach

Through the Simmental to the village of Lenk.

  • By train to Lenk. Timetable: SBB. The 4x4 cab will take you to Hubelmatte or Ritzdole. After the tour, take the bus from the Simmen Falls back to Lenk station.

  • There are numerous parking spaces in the village of Lenk. As the tour does not end at the same place as it starts, it is best to park in the village. The 4x4 cab will take you to Hubelmatte or Ritzdole. After the tour, take the bus from the Simmen Falls back to the village of Lenk.

  • Hubelmatte - Fallweid - Ritzdole - Langermatte - Oberlaubhorn - Chäli - Simmenfälle

  • The appropriate equipment and the necessary specialist knowledge (avalanche awareness, alpine skills) are mandatory for ski tours! If you have no experience in assessing the avalanche situation in open terrain, it is better to go on a ski tour with a trained mountain guide/snow sports instructor.

  • As with any ski tour, you need an avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel and crampons.

  • There is often the most snow here, at the top and at the bottom of the valley, so this tour is also feasible with relatively little snow.
