The hike starts from the Oberwil train station towards the church. Now begins the steep ascent, initially along forest edges and across meadows to the Hüpach. Beautiful view downstream to the Niesen. In the Haselwald, you turn away from the Hüpach and cross the small alpine road twice at Nidermatti. At the alpine huts Nässli, the road is briefly followed. This small alpine road is a true panoramic path. The view of the Simmental and up to Lake Thun can be thoroughly enjoyed. In a few minutes the alpine hollow of Domeren is reached. On the way to the Lohegg ridge saddle, the alp Nüeberg dominated by Widdersgrind is crossed. Now it goes slightly downhill into the pasture hollow interspersed with sinkholes and to the Schattigseeli hidden behind a moraine hill (after Morgetegrat - Lower Gantrisch Hut 2h30). This idyllic little lake is the ideal place for a cozy rest. Quickly the clear ridge cut of the Grenchegalm is reached. Beautiful is the view over the green heights of the Berra and the Schwyberg to the Jura. On a good high path, it goes through the loosely wooded slope. High above the Hengstschlund, the narrow path leads almost level downhill. Some exposed spots require special caution (watch children!). A narrow path leads over a rocky step into the steep slope to the huts of Oberalpigle. At the dilapidated Ritz hut, the valley of the Gantrischsense becomes visible. Deep below, the Gurnigel road winds along the mountain slopes. Through a wide scree slope, the path leads through the forest to a ridge and along the stream down to Schwefelbergbad.
