The hike starts from the Oberwil train station in the direction of the church. Now the steep ascent begins, initially along the edge of the forest and across meadows to Hüpach. Beautiful view out of the valley to the Niesen. In Haselwald, you turn away from Hüpach and cross the alpine road twice on the Nidermatti. At the Nässli alpine huts, follow the road briefly. This alpine road is a real panoramic trail. The views of the Simmental and as far as Lake Thun can be enjoyed to the full. The Domeren alpine hollow is reached in a few minutes. On the way to the Lohegg ridge saddle, you pass through Alp Nüeberg, dominated by the Widdersgrind. Now descend slightly into the pasture hollow interspersed with sinkholes and to the Schattigseeli hidden behind a moraine hill (to Morgetegrat-Untere Gantrischhütte 2h30). This idyllic little lake is the ideal place for a leisurely rest. The clear ridge cut of the Grenchegalm is then quickly reached. The view over the green heights of the Berra and the Schwyberg to the Jura is wonderful. A good high-level path leads through the loosely wooded flank. High above the Hengstschlund, the narrow path leads out of the valley on an almost level path. Some exposed sections require special care (keep an eye on children!). A narrow path leads over a rocky step into the steep flank to the huts of Oberalpigle. The valley of the Gantrischsense becomes visible at the ruined Ritz hut. Deep below, the Gurnigelstrasse winds along the mountain flanks. The little path leads through a wide scree slope through the forest to an alpine pasture and along the stream down to the Schwefelbergbad.
