The tour starts at the former Alpenrösli restaurant. The route leads through numerous pastures, always close to the forest, to Pöris. Here you reach the tree line. Over the Hohberg, a broad mountain ridge, you climb up to the Iffighore. On the summit above Lake Iffig you can enjoy a wonderful panorama. The descent to the Iffigsee is short but very beautiful in good powder snow. Now it's time for the second ascent, which leads over the Sandbode to the Wildhornhütte. The Wildhornhütte is an ideal starting point for high-altitude tours, for example to the Wildhorn or Schnidehorn. The descent from the hut over the frozen Iffigsee to Iffigenalp is fairly easy, but the scenery is beautiful.

Optionally, you can take a 4x4 cab to Iffigenalp. From here it is a good 700 m uphill through the Iffig valley past the frozen Iffigsee to the Wildhornhütte. This variant is also very scenic. However, you will have to wait until after you have spent the night in the Wildhornhütte before you reach the summit.

Classification according to the SAC difficulty scale for ski tours: L

  • Approach

From Lenk in the direction of Iffigenalp to the Hubelmatte parking lot.

  • Take the bus from Lenk station to Alpenrösli. Note the very limited departure times. Timetable: SBB.

  • There are a few parking spaces at Hubelmatte in winter. A 4x4 cab from Lenk or the bus to Alpenrösli is preferable.

  • Alpenrösli/Hubelmatte - Lindechäle - Iffighore - Wildhornhütte SAC - Iffigenalp

  • The appropriate equipment and the necessary specialist knowledge (avalanche awareness, alpine skills) are mandatory for ski tours! If you have no experience in assessing the avalanche situation in open terrain, it is better to go on a ski tour with a trained mountain guide/snow sports instructor.

  • As with any ski tour, you need an avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel and crampons.

  • An overnight stay in the beautiful Wildhornhütte SAC is well worthwhile.
