A 50km hike that goes from hut to hut, along the ridge of the Alps, from Tseuzier to Leukerbad. The highest point is over 3'000m. The hike can be completed in one or more stages.

  • Approach

On the A9 motorway, take the exit "Sion Est" and follow the signs for Ayent. When you arrive in Botyre, follow the signs for Barrage du Rawil until you reach Les Rousses. The journey takes about 30 minutes from the motorway exit to your final destination.

  • From Sion station, take a CarPostal bus for Crans-Montana and get off at the bus stop: Ayent, le Creux. You then need to take another CarPostal bus for Barrage du Rawil and get off at "Ayent, Les Rousses" which is the closest bus stop to the starting point of the hike.

  • There are free parking spaces near the starting point of the hike.

    Address: Les Rousses, 1972 Ayent

  • Departure from Ayent, Les Rousses - Cabane des Audannes - Col des Eaux Froides - Lac de Ténéhet - Plan des Roses - Col du Rawil - Cabane du Wildstrubel - Wisshorelücke - Lac de Huiton - Col du Pochet - (Cabane des Violettes) - Petit Mont Bonvin - Cabane de La Tièche - Rothornlücke - Cabane de Lämmeren - Gemmipass - Arrival at Leukerbad

  • Certain parts between Tièche and Lämmerenhütte are not recommended to people prone to vertigo.

Please follow the marked paths and respect nature (fauna and flora).

You should check the weather conditions before you leave.

  • Good walking shoes and equipment for high-mountain walking.

As the weather changes rather quickly at high altitude, it would be better to bring an extra layer of warm clothing.

  • This hike is relatively flexible, as it allows you to regain civilisation quite easily at each stage of the walk. Another interesting aspect of the hike is that it passes close to various panoramic peaks such as Wildhorn, Rohrbachstein, Grand Bonvin, Trubelstock - peaks you can easily include in your trip if you fancy.

You could also add an extra stop at the Cabane des Violettes.
