The route starts at the Oberwil train station. Heading down the valley past bushes, you quickly enter a side valley. From the junction, turn right towards Morgete, following a gravel road along the rock face and past the impressive Leiternweide suspension bridge (111 meters long and high). The view becomes more spectacular with every meter of ascent. The high plateau of Undriste Morgete at 1,473 m above sea level offers a convenient resting spot before it gets steeper again uphill to Alp Morgete, the destination of the route. Mittlist Morgeten is one of 4 Sennten of the Alpkorporation Morgeten. The Alpkorporations originated from Alemannic land law in the eighth century. The Alp was already used in the late Stone Age and cultivated during Celtic times. The oldest dated building dates back to 1468. At the Alp restaurant Morgete there's a well-deserved break before the descent, which leads back on the same road to Oberwil.
