Day 1 : Arrival to Crans-Montana

The sunny plateau high above the Rhone Valley is the starting point for the loop around the Wildstrubel. The alpine panorama sets the mood for the days ahead.

Day 2 : Crans-Montana - Leukerbad

A climb to Bisse de Tsittoret, followed by a fantastic hike to Leukerbad. On the way, you can stop off at the Cave du Sex. The way to Leukerbad is long, but the four-thousand-metre snow-covered peaks of Valais will sweeten this stage for sure. In the evening you can relax in the thermal baths of Leukerbad.

Alternative: Take the bus to the Hameau de Colombire to start the walk.

Duration: approx. 7.5 h

Distance: approx. 23km

Ascent: 1'085 m

Descent: 1'210 m

Day 3 : Leukerbad - Kandersteg

For a long time, the cliff above Leukerbad was considered insuperable until 1739, when a path leading to the Gemmi Pass was blown up. The route developed into one of the most important trading routes in the Alps.

Even today, the tour up the Gemmi is an absolute highlight. Once you reach the top, a fantastic panorama awaits you, followed by a long descent into the Bernese Oberland.

Alternative: you can take the cable car up to the Gemmi.

Alternative 2: Take the Sunnbüel-Kandersteg cable car back down.

Duration: approx. 7 h

Distance: approx. 21km

Ascent: 1'410 m

Descent: 1'235 m

Day 4 : Kandersteg - Adelboden

The ascent to the Bunderchrinde is a tough one. But the descent down to Adelboden is just as challenging, especially for your knees.

Alternative: take the Kandersteg-Allmenalp cabin up, then join the route via Ober-Allme.

Duration: approx. 6.5 - 7 h

Distance: approx. 17km

Ascent: 1'075 m

Descent: 1'280 m

Day 5: Adelboden - Lenk

The hike leads from the village of Adelboden to the Chuenisbärgli. From there it goes via Bergläger over the Vogellisi adventure trail to Sillerenbühl. The Flower Trail continues along the slopes of the Lavey with views of the Wildstrubel massif to the Hahnenmoospass. The Bühlberg and finally the village of Lenk are reached via the steep hiking trail.

Alternative: From Adelboden by cable car to Sillerenbühl or by bus to Geils and then by cable car to the

Hahnenmoospass.

Duration: approx. 6 - 6.5 h

Distance: approx. 18km

Ascent: 1'080 m

Descent: 1'360 m

Day 6 : Lenk - Crans-Montana

The next stage takes you from the village of Lenk by AFA bus to Iffigenalp. If you wish, you can also hike through the Iffig valley along the Iffig Falls to Iffigenalp. This is followed by a sweaty ascent of almost 1,000 metres in altitude to the Rawilpass and on to the SAC Wildstrubelhütte. The path winds spectacularly up to the pass, partly exposed along the rock, and the effort is rewarded with a unique view over a wonderful alpine panorama. The trail descends steeply over the cantonal border and past the impressive dam wall of Lac de Tseuzier to Crans-Montana. The crossing of the Bisse du Ro suspension bridge is an adventurous highlight at the end of the hike.

Alternative: Omit the loop to the Wildstrubelhütte and hike directly up to the Rawilpass (-1.30 h). A return trip is also possible by bus from Lac de Tseuzier to Crans-Montana. Timetables here.

Duration: approx. 7.5 h

Distance: approx. 23km

Ascent: 1'210 m

Descent: 1'295 m
