The route starts at Hubelmatte, from where the path leads not far from the impressive Iffigfall through forest clearings up to Lischböde. This swamp area is very beautiful in winter with the small, widely spaced fir trees. The further ascent to the Pörisgrat passes through untouched winter landscape in open terrain. On the ridge, which is more a broad back than a ridge, the panorama of Albristhorn, Metschstand and Oberlaubhorn definitely merits a break and a photo. The descent follows back over the mountain ridge to Summerwald. As on the ascent, the route leads through the snow, from clearing to clearing, back to Hubelmatte.

  • Approach

From Lenk towards Iffigenalp to the Hubelmatte parking lot.

  • From Lenk train station take the bus to Alpenrösli. Pay attention to the very limited departure times. Timetable: SBB

From Alpenrösli walk 15 minutes downstream along the road to Hubelmatte.

  • There are almost no parking spaces in winter at Hubelmatte. It is preferable to travel by taxi from Lenk or by bus to Alpenrösli.

  • This snowshoe route is signposted.

One of the best things about a snowshoe route is known to be making the first track up to the summit. On this snowshoe route, this can become strenuous with the elevation gain, so enough time should be allowed after snowfall.

  • For snowshoe routes, the appropriate equipment and necessary expertise (avalanche knowledge, alpine skills) are mandatory! Those without experience in assessing avalanche danger in open terrain should go snowshoeing with a trained mountain guide.

  • Attention: There are almost no parking spaces at Hubelmatte, so please arrive by taxi or bus to Alpenrösli.
