Starting in Matten, the route first follows the road briefly to avoid having to walk through the dense, steep forest. After a few meters in altitude, the first clearings in the forest are reached. From the Brandweidleni, follow the ridge up to the summit. The mountain panorama on the Schatthore is one of the most beautiful in the Obersimmental. The descent follows the ascent track and is technically easy and not steep anywhere.

Classification according to the SAC difficulty scale for ski tours: WS -

  • Public transport

By train to Matten, St. Stephan. Timetable SBB.

Alternatively, depending on the snow situation, you can take a 4x4 cab to a higher starting point.

  • On Färmelstrasse by the Mühleweidli fireplace

  • The appropriate equipment and the necessary specialist knowledge (avalanche awareness, alpine skills) are mandatory for ski tours! If you have no experience in assessing the avalanche situation in open terrain, it is better to go on a ski tour with a trained snow sports instructor or mountain guide.

  • As with any ski tour, you need an avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel and crampons.

  • For this tour you need enough snow in the lower area, otherwise the first meters of altitude have to be done on foot along the road.
