The route begins at the former Alpenrösli restaurant. The path leads through numerous pastures always close to the forest up to Pöris. Here the tree line is reached. Over the Hohberg, a wide mountain ridge, one ascends to the Iffighore. From the summit above Iffigsee, you enjoy a wonderful panorama. The descent to Iffigsee is short but very beautiful with good powder snow. Now comes the second ascent, which goes over Sandbode to the Wildhornhütte. The Wildhornhütte is an ideal starting point for high alpine tours, for example to Wildhorn or Schnidehorn. The descent from the hut over the frozen Iffigsee to Iffigenalp is quite easy but scenically stunning.

Optionally, you can take a Taxi 4x4 to Iffigenalp. From here it is about 700 meters altitude gain through the Iffig valley past the frozen Iffigsee to the Wildhornhütte. This alternative is also very beautiful scenically. However, the summit success must be waited for until after the overnight stay in the Wildhornhütte.

Classification according to SAC difficulty scale for ski routes: L

  • Approach

From Lenk towards Iffigenalp to the Hubelmatte parking lot.

  • From Lenk station by bus to Alpenrösli. Very limited departure times to be observed. Timetable: SBB.

  • There are a few parking spaces at Hubelmatte in winter. Access by Taxi 4x4 from Lenk or by bus to Alpenrösli is preferable.

  • Alpenrösli/Hubelmatte - Lindechäle - Iffighore - Wildhornhütte SAC - Iffigenalp

  • For ski routes, the appropriate equipment and necessary expertise (avalanche knowledge, alpine skills) are mandatory! Those without experience in assessing avalanche conditions in open terrain should ideally go on a ski route with a certified mountain guide/snow sports instructor.

  • As with every ski route, avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel, and crampons are part of the equipment.

  • An overnight stay in the beautiful Wildhornhütte SAC is worthwhile.
