This summit is relatively easy to reach from Engstligenalp. From the starting point of the tour at the Engstligenalp cable car mountain station, the route first leads across the entire plateau before the actual ascent begins. The ascent to the Ammertenspitz begins slightly uphill and becomes steeper before reaching the ridge. It is not far from the ridge to the summit. The view of the Wildstrubel and Gletscherhorn is simply brilliant. At the top, the 360° panorama is almost unbeatable, because now the view to the north, into the Simmental and Engstligtal valleys, is also unobstructed. The descent towards the Ammertal valley and on to the Simmen Falls is very rewarding in good snow conditions.
Classification according to the SAC difficulty scale for ski tours: from Engstligenalp and back: WS, descent through the Ammertal valley to Lenk: ZS+
