This circular walk combines the sophisticated flair of Gstaad with alpine nature and cultural highlights. It begins at the historic MOB railway bridge in the middle of the Gstaad promenade and leads directly to the legendary Gstaad Palace hotel, the landmark of Gstaad.
From there, it continues through the exclusive Oberbort chalet district, where architecture and alpine elegance come together. The trail winds its way to the Grand Chalet restaurant, which offers one of the best views of the village of Gstaad and the surrounding mountains – a perfect place for a short break.
After descending to the large railway viaduct, built in 1905, the view opens up to the charming village centre. The route now leads directly to the world-famous Gstaad Promenade, where luxury boutiques meet local family businesses. Passing the ice rink, the venue for the international beach volleyball and tennis tournaments, the route continues to the Coop supermarket, where a small road leads into the countryside.
At the Saane River, you change sides and walk a short distance along Saani's Sound Experience – an interactive themed trail with an inviting fire pit for picnics. After the Mettlenwäldchen, the view opens up to the Eggli gondola lift and the Gstaad sports centre.
A short walk along the main road takes you past the dairy to the upper promenade. Walk back along the promenade to the railway bridge, pass under it until you reach Kapälliplatz. Here, at the fountain of Julie Andrews (Marry Poppins) we end our loop.
