Crackling Kiental - Winter BBQ backpack

A backpack full of local goodies and barbecue sites at Lake Tschingel and Pochten - that's all you nedd for a carefree winter barbecue in the wild and romantic Kiental Valley.

It’s hard to top the spectacular landscape surrounding Lake Tschingel – except perhaps by adding an open fire on the shore. Even in winter, Kiental has two barbecue sites waiting for hungry hikers, and you don’t even have to go shopping in advance. Simply book online, collect your backpack complete with hot drinks, locally baked bread, regional meat products for the barbecue, wood for the fire and instructions for finding the site. That’s it. This offer is perfect for lunchtime or an evening barbecue under the stars.

Arrival Information

Pick up the backpack at the bakery Aellig (Griesalpstr. 55, 3723 Kiental).

Access by car from Kiental village only possible with 4 x 4 or chains.

POCHTEN BARBECUE SITE
Drive to the car park at Schlangenweide (near the Blüemlisalp campsite) and then it's 15 minutes on foot to the barbecue site.
Alternatively, drive to the car park by the Ramslauenen postbus stop and then it's 20 minutes on foot to the barbecue site.

On foot from Kiental village in about 30 minutes. We recommend snowshoes after heavy snowfall.

TSCHINGELSEE BARBECUE SITE
Drive by car (4 x 4 vehicle or snow chains obligatory) to the Tschingelsee car park (tariff applies) and then it's just 1 minute on foot.
Remember - there is a charge to park in the Tschingelsee car park.

On foot from Kiental village in about 1h 20m. We recommend snowshoes after heaby snowfall.
