A frozen waterfall

From the Berghotel Oeschinensee, an easy walk along the shore leads to a special winter wonder of nature: even in frosty temperatures, a small stream cascades down the rock face. The water instantly freezes at the bottom, forming an ice tower that can grow several metres high over time.

  • Approach

By car via Spiez - Frutigen or by car train from Goppenstein to Kandersteg.

  • The Lötschberg to the south, the Kandertal to the north: this station between Brig (38 min.) and Bern (61 min.) has hourly intervals - an ideal base for many excursions.

  • The destination has been decided, and so has the parking space - on this map, drivers can quickly and easily find the right parking option in the Oberland municipality. Well then: engine off, winter hiking boots on!

  • The signposts of winter hiking trails are pink. The intermediate markers are poles and have a pink tip.

Winter hiking trails can usually be walked on without danger. In case of icing, be aware of the danger of slipping.

Hiking is at your own risk: Tourism Adelboden-Lenk-Kandersteg accepts no liability whatsoever when using local routes.

  • Hat, gloves, sunglasses: reliable equipment is especially important on winter trails. What dresses best? Ask our specialists in the numerous sports shops in the destination

  • 2 or 8 kilometres, across the plateau or the valley floor: The choice of winter hiking trails is large in Adelboden-Lenk-Kandersteg. Even experienced outdoor walkers will still find enough new territory to explore.
