From Heimritz, there is a hiking trail on both sides of the Kander that continues in the direction of Kanderfirn. At the latest at Gantbödeli, however, you should cross the Kander on the small suspension bridge. The source of the Kander lies beneath the Kanderfirn, a large glacier in the Petersgrat area. The name Kander goes back to the pre-Roman *kando- "white, bright, clear".

  • Approach

By car via Spiez - Frutigen or by car train from Goppenstein to Kandersteg.

  • The Lötschberg to the south, the Kandertal to the north: this station between Brig (38 min.) and Bern (61 min.) has an hourly service - an ideal base for many excursions.

Continue with the Gasternbus to Selden. Seat reservation by telephone obligatory, tel. +41 (0)33 671 11 71

  • The destination has been decided, as has the parking space - on this map, drivers can quickly and easily find a suitable parking space in the Oberland municipality. Well then: engine off, hiking boots on!

  • Even open hiking trails may still be partially covered in snow. Hiking is at your own risk: Tourismus Adelboden-Lenk-Kandersteg accepts no liability for the use of local routes.

  • No need for heavy shoes here: this easy hike is well marked in yellow or red and white and secured. Of course, it can be steep at times - but there are numerous mountain restaurants along the way.

  • Nature and culture accompany every tour - but which alpine themes are currently topical in the Adelboden-Lenk-Kandersteg destination? If you subscribe to our newsletter, you'll know what's going on along the way.
